Directions: From BZN airport
Directions for those traveling from the airport and through Belgrade
As you leave the airport, heading south on Airport Rd., turn right onto Frontage Rd. (also known as Main St.) at the T intersection. Follow Frontage Rd. straight through Belgrade (where its name changes to Main St.) until it intersects with Jackrabbit Rd. at a stoplight. Turn left (i.e. south) onto Jackrabbit Rd.
Follow Jackrabbit Rd. (which is also labeled as Hwy 85) south. After you cross over I-90, travel roughly 14 miles south towards Big Sky. On the way, you'll pass straight through the small communities of Four Corners (where the road becomes Hwy 191 at a traffic light) and Gallatin Gateway.
About 1 mile after Gallatin Gateway look for Cottonwood Rd.. Buffalo Jump (an adult club) is on the NE corner of Hwy191 and Cottonwood Rd. Turn left onto Cottonwood Rd.
Continue on Cottonwood Rd. until the road comes to a "T". Take a right and continue until road comes to a second "T". Turn left. Note that at both of these "T" intersections, Cottonwood Rd. is paved, and the road you don't want is gravel. After the second "T" intersection, continue about 1.7 miles. Then, look for Cottonwood Canyon Rd., a gravel road, off to right. If you reach a hard, 90 degree left turn that heads up a hill, you've gone about 100 yards too far.
Take Cottonwood Canyon Rd. 1.0 miles looking for a large Yellowstone Alliance Adventures sign on the right; you will also see two large hitching-post style entryways made from logs. Turn right and drive under the entryway with the "Welcome" sign.
Continue 3/4 mile up the winding driveway to the Retreat (do not turn left into the upper Y.A.A. entrance). At the top, the road is paved. Drive up and park under the carport of the lodge, which is the large building on the right. Check in at the lodge front desk, unless you have made other arrangements with us. Thank you!
Warning! If you are using Map Qest, another online map provider, or a GPS, and it includes directions that involve Portnel Rd. or Little Bear Rd., do not follow them. Use our directions instead (or pack a sleeping bag).
